GEANHS HOSTS DIWANG KULTURANG FILIPINAS DIVISION COMPETITION

To promote Filipino culture among the youth, the Department of Education launched a series of competitions that encompass the different subject areas such as Araling Panlipunan, MAPEH and ICT.

 

On June 27, 2019, GEANHS hosted the Diwang Kulturang Filipinas Division Competition where students from different schools in Imus City competed in Digital Kwiz, Balagtasan, Laron ng Lahi, Visual Arts, and Kundiman. After arduous preparation, Emilians were able to reign in four competitions.

 

Marcie Ivanna Cruz, Trixie Mae Del Rosario (G8- Khalil Gibran) and John Jacob Malvar (G10 - Elija Parish) bagged the Championship in Balagtasan with coach, Ms. Irish V. Baquiran.

 

Rayven Ilagan (G10 – Nepomuceno) also seized the championship for Laro Ng Lahi under the supervision of Ms. Mylene A. Amparo.

 

Angelica Dela Cruz (G10 – Aristotle) brought home another championship from Digital Kwiz under the mentorship of Ms. Joan B. Eustaquio.

 

Ramil Tolentino (G9 – Ruth) won 2nd Place in Kundiman, under the mentorship of Ms. Mary Joy B. Mantes.

 

These winning Emilians will further prepare for the Regional Competition to held in Rizal on July 5, 2019.

EMILIANO WEBSITE RECOGNIZED AT 2019 SDOIC CYBER EXPO

 In preparation for digital transformation of education, the Schools Division of Imus City conducted the country's first division-level Cyber Expo. The event featured talks from educational leaders, industry experts, and notable teachers. Aside from the training, one of the highlights of the event is the awarding of best school websites in the elementary and secondary levels. GEANHS successfully bagged the 2nd place for Best School Website in the secondary level. Mr. June Bence L. Adelan, Division ITO, awarded the certificate of recognition to GEANHS' website team: Ms. Mary Ann N. Villareal, ICT Coordinator and Website Consultant; Ms. Joanne V. Cura, Website Administrator; and Ms. Marycon Carmela G. Mella, Content Writer and Editor. Through the support of Mrs. Lerma V. Peña, school principal, GEANHS' website will continue to improve to better serve its community.

GEANHS WINS BIG AT GAWAD IMUSENYO 2019

Effective leadership. Sustainable initiatives. Relentless service. Twenty years of dedication towards attaining accessible, quality education has given GEANHS a clear vision of improving itself towards efficient curriculum implementation. Through its efforts, GEANHS shined in Gawad Imusenyo 2019, the award-giving body of Schools Division Office of Imus City. From individual to school categories, the school bagged awards that showcase its passion for learners' development. The Big Winners A pride of GEANHS, Mr. Joseph R. Carreon was again recognized as SDOIC's Outstanding Secondary Researcher. "I am passionate about research as an evidence-based mechanism for intervention and improvement of students' performance. It is a means for progress, for igniting love of learning, and uplifting the lives of the youth," Carreon passionately shared in his acceptance speech. In 2018, Carreon was a finalist in the same category in CALABARZON Gawad Patnugot. Another consistent winner, Ms. Melanie Mae N. Moreno was awarded Outstanding School Paper Adviser. Moreno has been the SPA and mentor of campus journalists for many years now, bringing home a number of awards from the division, regional and national schools press conferences. Through these efforts, GEANHS was also awarded as Best Journalism Program Implementer. In addition, the school was recognized as Best Reading Program Implementer. The initiative to create a reading program was influenced by the alarming number of struggling English readers in the Grade 7 level. Led by the Continuous Improvement team and the assistance of the English teachers, Project REAS was born. For three years now, the project helped improve the reading skills of learners and increased the rate of independent readers. Aside from curriculum implementation, GEANHS values good and transparent governance. Aided by a team of dedicated teachers, GEANHS successfully bagged the Best School Based Management Implementer award. "It is our dream to create a community where learners' welfare, development and values are prioritized," Mrs. Lerma V. Peña shared. "GEANHS will continue to improve itself for all Bidang Imusenyo."

GEANHS joins Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED)

Students, teachers and personnel took time out of their classrooms to practice duck, cover and hold in response to the observance of the nationwide earthquake drill on June 20, 2019. Spearheaded by the School Disaster Risk Reduction Management (SDRRM) Team and Junior Medics, the drill sought to strengthen the mechanism for school-based coordination in times of earthquake. Prior to the NSED, the SDRRM Team collaborated with student organizations and class officers for the dissemination of information essential for the success of the drill: disaster education, evacuation plans, and specific protocols to follow. With the involvement of the student body and the assistance of teachers, the drill successfully ended. GEANHS’S SDRRM team continues to engage in capability-building measures to intensify the school community’s disaster preparedness and resilience towards safety and security.

GEANHS PARTICIPATES IN SDOIC CYBER EXPO

     Digital Transformation is one of the emerging trends in education. In the pursuit of maximizing the power technology in both curriculum implementation and governance, the Schools Division Office of Imus City conducted the Division Cyber Expo, the first in the country. On June 26, GEANHS teachers responded with much enthusiasm as they attended the three-day expo at the Leighton Hall Ballroom, Lancaster New City Community Center. The promising event gathered leaders, experts and professionals in the field of technology and education. "We believe in the importance of technology in making the curriculum relevant for out students. That is why all our efforts are focused in providing all schools with necessary infrastructure for integrating ICT in the classroom," Usec. Alain Del B. Pascua stated in his Keynote Speech. The first day of training was packed with first-hand information in various tools that will help enhance the teaching-learning process, led by forerunners of Microsoft, Hubhuman, Google and Quipper. The training will last for three days until June 28, 2019.

GEANHS conducts first PTC for SY 2019-2020

In support of the Department of Education’s undertaking to increase parents’ participation in learners’ school progress, GEANHS conducted its first Parents-Teachers Conference for School Year 2019-2020 on June 18, 2019. Hundreds of parents flocked to the school covered court for the General Assembly to be informed of the policies, rules and regulations of the school. The PTC was also a venue to discuss the school activities for the year and for parents to raise questions and clarifications or make suggestions in various topics concerning the learners. Aside from the General Assembly, parents had a chance to consult with their children’s respective advisers and discuss the learners’ progress, attendance, observed behavior and other concerns. The meeting also served as a venue for the election of Homeroom PTA officers, who will lead other parents in creating classroom-based programs and projects for the benefit of the students. GEANHS continues to encourage parents to provide time for the welfare of their children by attending school meetings or parent-teacher conferences, and being informed on school policies.

The entire GEANHS community, including the students, parents, teachers and non-teaching personnel assembled for the State of the School Address (SOSA). On June 18, 2019, Mrs. Lerma V. Peña led the presentation of School Report Card (SRC), which contains information on the school’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI) such as the enrollment rate, promotion rate, and achievement rate. This gathering was initiated to build transparency between the school and the parents, thus, creating an open channel of communication towards the learners’ progress. “What we aim for if the holistic development of our students. Our learners continue to excel in various competitions in academics, sports, journalism, arts and other facets of education—a proof that GEANHS strives for excellence despite the challenges that we face,” Mrs. Peña stated in her speech. “ GEANHS has bumped into a few challenges in the previous school year due to the heavy influx of enrollees, but the school managed to pivot and provide effective solutions to pressing concerns. A few milestones from the previous school year included: the improvement of students’ nutritional status; upturn of the achievement rate and literacy level; provision of enough learners’ materials; and increase in the number of teachers. Moreover, the school has successfully encouraged more parents and stakeholders to be involved in school programs in programs in curriculum implementation and physical improvement. As the new school dawns, GEANHS eyes for improvement of existing projects and sustain successful programs, all for the benefit of the Batang Imusenyo.

GEANHS launches Oplan Balik Eskwela 2019

To ensure the smooth opening of classes for School Year 2019-2020, GEANHS launched Oplan Balik Eskwela 2019, pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 29, s. 2019 entitled “2019 Oplan Balik Eskwela.” A school-based Public Assistance Command Center (PACC), stationed at the school entrance, was prompted on May 27 to address questions and other concerns of parents and the public at the start of the school year. Teaching and non-teaching personnel assigned to manage the PACC ensured that all learners are properly enrolled and able to attend school on the first day of classes on June 3. Located near the school’s PACC are information bulletins containing information about the school and its administrative processes such as: the Citizen’s Charter; school mission and vision; school programs and accomplishments; and transparency board, as part of the GEANHS’ mission to promote transparent, good governance. GEANHS’ PACC shall also serve as the information and complaints processing and routing zone for the duration of the OBE.
